By Becky N from Huntersville, Posted: 09/21/2024Hidden gem where dolphins frequent
We loved the calm and quiet of this North Tybee property. The beach was an easy boardwalk walk from the house, and the waves were very mild for our littles. We had every amenity necessary for a great beach trip with family.
Thank you Becky for the 5-star review we are so happy to hear you and your family made such fond memories at Sanctuary by the Sea. This is a wonderful home for the family to vacation to. Please come back again and make more amazing memories.

By Sarah M from Jefferson City, Posted: 08/04/2023Great Size And Space, But Could Use A Few Updates
We stayed at Sanctuary by the Sea in July, 2023 with 3 families. All in all, this rental house was almost perfect for our ocean getaway. Pros: The house was wonderful for 3 families. Each family had their own bedroom with their own, private bathroom. The kitchen was a good size for multiple people to be cooking/gathering in. The common living space of the kitchen, living room, library, and dining room were ideal! We never felt crowded or that we were on top of each other. The beds were all very comfortable including plenty of comfy pillows and enough/comfortable furniture. The balcony on the 3rd floor was great for morning coffee and to watch the cargo ships come in and out. The location was great! We walked to Huc-A-Poos Pizza and Tybean Coffee House. The beach was very easy to get to via the boardwalk that connected right to the property. Bonus was the ping pong table in the basement/garage area. The bunk beds in one room were ideal to have all the kids sleep in one room. Rally enjoyed watching tons of dolphins in the water and the coming and going of the cargo ships. The property management company OceanFront Cottage Rentals was great to work with! They were very helpful, responsive, professional, and courteous. Cons: The house could use some updates. The refrigerator fluctuated between 37 and 55 degrees. We understand it takes a bit of time to cool down initially, but the unit could definitely use a newer/more reliable refrigerator. As we’d seen on previous reviews, the stove top in the kitchen only has 2 burners. This was not ideal when trying to make a meal for 3 families. The outside shower is completely broken. There was a garden hose to use in its place and that was completely spilt. We alerted the Property Mgmt company and they brought out a new hose right away. Not ideal, but we made do. We really wanted a hot/cold outdoor shower. Our unit was missing a coffee pot. Property Mgmt brought one out within an hour of us informing them we didn’t have one. With regards to beds, the advertised bed size on the main floor says 2 Queen Beds. These are definitely Full-Size beds, not Queens. None of the locks on the bathroom doors worked. Mosquitos were really bad, so we didn’t spend much time in the back yard or on the porch in the evenings. The beach at the end of our boardwalk has an Oyster Shelf near it. Be aware that there are lots of sharp oyster shells. It is best to move up the beach a bit. All in all, it was a great house with plenty of room and a nice layout for 3 families. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Sanctuary by the Sea! We love that you were able to enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean from the balcony! One cool thing about that stove top is one side has two burners and the other side is a grill! We are so glad we were able to make your stay enjoyable for the whole family! We hope you guys come back to stay with us again!

The pics on the website do not do justice to the beauty and spaciousness of the property! We had a party of 10 and we all had separate areas and still felt comfortable:) The house was equipped with EVERYTHING and more! We loved the double balcony on the second and third floor. I wished there was a balcony from the main suite:( The proximity to the beach was ideal! We loved the semi-privacy and the cleanliness. The town is so quaint and we enjoyed the July 4th fireworks by the pier!!! Our family enjoyed bike rides & dolphin tours. Pizza from Hucapoos was great but the Crab Shack was a huge disappointment as far as taste:( The gators attraction passed the time while we waited. It rained only once while there and unfortunately was unable to visit Fort Pulaski:(. But even that was a sight to see from our balcony as the storm went by:) Overall, our family had a marvelous time and would definitely be back! This was by far our favorite beach house rental experience!

Excellent beach house! The location is such an easy little walk to the beach. The house is cute, clean and spacious. Linens smelled so fresh and well laundered., which is always a must for me. Beds are comfy and the kitchen had all we needed. Nice view and outdoor dining area. We will definitely be staying there in the future!

We had a fabulous girls week. The ample open kitchen had everything we needed to cook and enjoy the views on the second and third floor balconies for our evening glass of wine. Access to the beach was easy and close; there is even a beach wagon to carry all your stuff! Hopefully this will become an annual respite for the Lunch Ladies!

The BEST rental on Tybee - Savannah River views, gorgeous sunsets from all three balconies, direct waterfront access. I wouldn't stay anywhere else! This house is THE BOMB! My go-to for the finest on the Island.
By Anonymous U, Posted: 02/25/2021Excellent Beach house!
This is a cute, clean, comfortable and well maintained place that I definitely recommend to anyone vacationing (or looking for an extended rental) in beautiful Tybee Island. There is plenty of space and it is adorably decorated. The back porch is relaxing and has a pretty view of the water (sunsets were nice). It’s quiet and peaceful too. No noise. It is a two minute walk to the water, which was convenient, and walkable distance to restaurants and the lighthouse. You kind of get the best of everything at this location—beach, history etc. The beds were comfy (a major must for us) and the linens were crisp (in that nice cool, cottony way!) and very clean. We will definitely be returning. Highly recommend.

This is an awesome, quiet place that’s within walking distance to the beach. It’s also walking distance to Huc-a-poos. We have two small children and the river beach is perfect for them being able to enjoy the salt water without us having to worry about waves. It’s also great being so close to the house in case we had to go back for something. The house itself is very nice and it really feels like home once you are settled in. We especially loved eating dinner on the balcony and enjoying all of the sights and sounds of the river and marsh. We can’t wait to go back!
