For years there have been discussions surrounding the possibility of a brand new Tybee Island Marine Science Center. The new Tybee Island Marine center plans included indoor galleries, shops, direct beach access and an outdoor theater.
Well, the discussion is finally becoming a reality and construction has begun on Tybee Island’s New Marine Science Center. The new science center is not set to open until winter 2020 but visitors and locals are excited to see the plans being introduced. The new center will be located near the Tybee Island Lighthouse and north beach public parking area. This area of Tybee Island was recently updated with new restrooms, outdoor showers and other visitor amenities.
