Some homes just get one chance to live. This elegant Tybee Island Rental once housed one of Tybee Island’s most historic, memorable and remarkable families. Almost demolished 1700 Whispering Palms was moved to a new location on Tybee Island, Georgia and given a chance to be saved by a preservationist, Gayle Gudger Lamb.
1700 Whispering Palms became a vacation rental whose transformation never reached her true potential until recently. New life was breathed into this home by its enthusiastic new owners who love vintage homes above all else. This bit of history was built by a beautiful Tybee Island family as their beach home in 1925 on Georgia’s beautiful Tybee Island. Whispering Palms was relocated by our local artisan, Anthony Sapone who wanted to complete the transformation for years, however, never had the opportunity. Luck would have it that the new owners of this home would meet Mr. Sapone , Owner of Catskill Builders. Anthony and the new owners met with Oceanfront Cottage Rentals, LLC and collectively envisioned how wonderful this lovely home could be either as a second home for the owners or a dream vacation rental.
The grounds upon which the home was located were largely unexplored, overgrown and hid the fabulous historical trees and landscaping yet to be developed. After removal of under brush, saving Tybee Island’s century old oaks and fabulous palms the grounds became the focal point of this lovely home. Kimberly Doyle of Doyle Landscape and Design mapped out the landscaping. Demetri ### of Architectural Pools planned the pavers, pool and its adjoining equipment.
From within the home or on its porches and decks you look down upon Mother nature’s splendor.
Featuring 6 bedrooms and 5 full bathrooms with eclectic and vintage flare (plus large flat screen televisions) the Owners decided they wanted to have one of the most Southern of all yards on Tybee! Hydrangeas, lilies, majestic oak trees, multiple decks, a huge yard (so uncommon on Tybee Island or any beach town) with fire pit, heated pool and so much more!. Located just a block and a half a block from the Back Inlet Beach and 1 1/2 blocks to the Main Beach make our home very unique. The Back Inlet Beach is quiet, peaceful and picturesque while the beach directly on the Atlantic Ocean is bustling with activity. Here you have the best of both worlds!

The Family Room and Dining Room are open space connecting to a large gourmet kitchen. It will be hard not to enjoy a movie, ball game or golf match when viewing this large 70″ television in the living area.
Step outside of the living area onto the sanctuary of a screened porch overlooking beautiful landscaping, grilling area with cabana and heated pool.
From the screened porch or large deck you can enjoy wonderful green space or head out to the lower patio within a palm grove and just rusticate. The other upper area with cabana and heated pool plus magnificent landscaping including a fire pit is a separate area to be enjoyed in this gated retreat..
We love the open floor plan of the middle floor (ground level is for parking). The Family Room features a large TV/VCR/DVD with a selection of Classic and Family movies to enjoy. There is a large corner sofa, antique iron coffee table and comfortable chairs for unwinding. The Dining Room features an oversized Indian Fruit wood refectory table that seats 12 people. This room also features a stereo with CD player and iPod docking station.
The Owners have a beautiful collection or art work that is worth taking your time to enjoy and explore.
The Kitchen offers everything you will need to prepare memorable meals during your holiday. This room features an oven with electric cooktop, microwave oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, antique double farmhouse sink with garbage disposal, and large butcher block. The kitchen has been equipped with all of the tools you will need to prepare your meals. Some special items include a griddle for your Saturday morning pancakes, a crock-pot to create a meal ready for when you come in from the beach, wine glasses for your dinner, and everything you need to make the perfect margarita!
The Screened Porch on the middle level off the living room will become your outdoor sanctuary. This space features two areas for entertaining. There is a lovely dining table that seats 6 that provides a peaceful spot for breakfast while listening to the birds singing. There is also a conversation area featuring an old fashioned porch swing, a white wicker love seat, chairs , a chaise lounge and coffee table. You may never want to leave this peaceful area.
Also on the middle level of this home is The Palm Room featuring an antique British Colonial king bed placed in front of three large windows set high up in the palm trees. You never need to draw the blinds as you enjoy complete privacy from these beautiful old trees.This room features a TV ,alarm clock and radio, antique built-in cabinets and drawers and a connecting bathroom with a shower/tub combination.
A second queen bedroom is also located on the living level of this home with white wicker furniture and a TV. This room has a connecting bath with a tub and shower combination.
The Master Bedroom is located on the top floor (third) of this lovely home with a king bed, antique vanity, armoire with TV/DVD, iPod player, alarm clock and bright windows. The king master suite is complete with large private screened in porch off of the room with a large hammock and daybed .There is a sunny, large bathroom off the Master featuring a deep Jacuzzi tub. The tub is in front of a beautiful screened picture window. If you open the window during your bath you can hear the palm trees swaying and the sounds of the ocean.
The Fifth Room features a Queen bed. This is a very sunny, cozy room featuring two walls of windows. This room has a private bath with shower.
The Third Floor Guest Room features a full size bed, TV/VCR, alarm clock and bright morning sunshine! This room has a private bathroom with a shower and lots of space for toiletries.
The Last Room is perfect for your little ones! It features one queen bed and one twin bed with built in antique cabinetry. This is the only bedroom that does not have a connecting bathroom.
There is ample space on the ground level for entertaining.
Whispering Palms parks 4 vehicles.
Bring your bicycles and tour Tybee Island.
Take a short walk to the shops and restaurants or enjoy a night dancing on the South end.
This home does not have an oceanview, however, location is everything and this home is a retreat into itself.

The dining options are endless with not only a 12 person Indian Fruit wood table in the dining room but also five different additional dining tables each seating 4-6 scattered throughout the gated property with two separate gas grills for your convenience
The heated spa pool has built in seating for 8-10 people and has 8 different spa jets for your relaxation.
a new sound system with outdoor speakers pool side so you can listen to your favorite college team outdoors or play your favorite music CDs which you bring with you. Lastly this area holds a variety of beach equipment including boogie boards, beach chairs and beach umbrellas and tables for your every need.
The new 70″ LCD television in the living room has a blue ray player with a collection of movies, surround sound and the owner has purchased the Direct TV NFL package so you can watch every single pro football game on weekends.
