Tybee Island will be decked out in green with a family-friendly parade including floats, marchers and musical bands. This fun event is done in a unique, quirky way that only Tybee Island can do, and families are encouraged to dress in green and celebrate. Kids will love receiving tons of beads and goodies. The Clydesdale horses are always a sight to behold as they clop down the main street. The Irish Heritage Parade starts March 14 at 3p.m. at the Tybee City Hall and proceeds down Butler Avenue to Tybrisa Street and is free and open to the public.
However you choose to celebrate this holiday, remember not to drink and drive. The police are very strict and you also do not want to endanger yourself and others by trying to make it home. Usually, there are free tows during this time that companies offer to people that end up drinking, but do not want to leave their vehicles. Be responsible and safe, but have FUN!If you feeling adventurous, you can check out Savannah on March 17 from 10:15am to 2:30pm for their giant yearly celebration. It will be extremely crowded as more and more people attend each year. There is a trolley running from Tybee to Savannah. It is just a 20 minute drive, however add time on for traffic especially if you will be driving. Parking can be up to $25.
